Film Industry Lesson 1, Edelyn Bonsra

Production - When it comes to production there are 3 stages, which are Pre-Production, Production and Post Production .Pre- Production is is the stage in which all the planning for the project takes place. During pre-production, the production is broken down into individual scenes and all the locations, props, cast members, costumes, special effects and visual effects are identified. The script, if not already complete, is written at this stage. Production  is the stage at which all the filming is carried out. All scenes planned out in pre-production are filmed at the relevant locations. Each scene is filmed as many times as the director deems fit, to ensure the best quality scenes will be used to construct the film. This is where the strength of the pre-production work is put to the test. Great care must be taken to make sure that all the filming is done correctly and all necessary shots are taken. Post Production,is the stage in which the film is assembled by the editor. The first job of the film editor is to build a rough cut taken from sequences based on individual "takes" shots. The purpose of the rough cut is to select and order the best shots. The next step is to create a fine cut by getting all the shots to flow smoothly in a seamless story. Trimming - the process of shortening scenes by a few minutes, seconds, or even frames - is done during this phase.

Film Audiences

Target Audiences: Thriller

In general the target audiences for thriller would be 12-25 but could vary to 15-25 due to thing such as scenes of a violent nature, sex or violent language.

In the below trailer for a thriller film called 'Seven' i would say the taret audience would be from 15-40. This is not all because of the storyline being about a psycho killer but to do with the mixture of actors such as a young actor (Brad Pitt) and a slightly older, more known actor such as Morgan Freeman.

Gener and Subgenre

Genre and Subgenre.

Genre is how films are labelled, due to each films set of style. The different types of genres can be comedey, thriller, horror, sci-fi, western, drama, etc.

Subgenre is a subcategory within a particular genre, so for example; you can have rom-com, thriller drama, etc.

An example of a Subgenre film, is 'The Crazies' which is a thriller/Horror. Being based upon a town  turning crazy due to a kind of virus, this really inspired me for my own film opening, which is also a thriller/horror. 'The Crazies' inspired me to show a crazy persons point of view on things, such as the daley routen of this person.
